How do I know if I need physical therapy?
Your health-care provider will usually determine this for you. As a guide; however, the patients who most frequently benefit from physical therapy are those who need help strengthening and training injured body parts and those who are recovering from a recent surgery. The treatments can assist you in regaining full function and range of motion, and they’ll also work to keep scar tissue from forming and causing problems down the line.
What will my first visit be like?
Our Northern Mississippi physical therapy services begin very similarly to other medical appointments. You’ll start by filling out a little bit of paperwork, and then you’ll have a consultation and examination with one of our staff physical therapist to discuss your medical history and current problem. After the examination, your physical therapist will determine a treatment plan that is tailored and unique to your condition. You’ll also meet with our patient care representative to discuss your insurance and financial details.
I’m in tremendous pain. How quickly can you see me?
We’re often able to see you the same day you call. Because we work with and have access to local northern Mississippi physicians to consult regarding your pain-intensive issues, we always try to get you here as quickly and efficiently as possible. Once we’ve established you as a patient, we’ll work with your schedule to find the best times for examinations and follow-up appointments.
How long should I expect my visit to last?
The first is usually the most time-consuming appointment due to the paperwork, consultation, examination, and review of your insurance or financial arrangements could add time to that initial visit. Future appointments will generally take about an hour depending on your concerns, the nature of your treatment, whether you’ll need a new evaluation and if yo have test results to discuss. This doesn’t necessarily include the time you’ll wait before your visit, but we recognize that your time is important and go out of our way to keep that waiting period to the bare minimum
How long will the entire treatment plan take?
This is based entirely on your specific situation. Individual factors such as severity of the injury, age of the patient and ability to comply with treatment can influence the length of time you’ll need to undergo treatment. Our team approach; however, does tend to work much more quickly than standard courses of action.
How long will it take before I start feeling better?
This will depend very heavily on a few factors: age, severity, specific treatment and how closely you comply with the plan. We’ll keep an eye on your progress through routine follow-up appointments and tweak the treatment if we feel that it’s not moving at a reliable pace. We can’t say for certain how quickly you’ll experience relief, but we can tell you that progress is almost always a certainty. What’s more, we won’t put you through unnecessary treatments if nothing’s changing; at that point, we’ll begin looking at other options and associated specialists.
Is there anything I should avoid while undergoing treatment?
Depending on the course of treatment for your specific problems, your physical therapist will give you details on what you can and cannot do throughout the process. Certain activities might be restricted, and we may ask that you avoid specific movements for the time being. Our basic rule of thumb, however, is that your health should be a complete priority while you’re working with us. We’ll always try to coordinate with your personal obligations; we simply ask that you take the treatment process as seriously as you would any other medical issue.
What do you charge?
Our initial consultation doesn’t cost a thing. Once we’ve mutually decided that our facility can be of benefit to you, the charge will depend entirely on several factors: initial examination, length and duration of treatment, and the start date of treatment to name just a few. Your personal responsibility will also be based on your specific insurance plan. That’s why we ask one of our financial specialists to discuss the options with you during your first visit.
Do you accept insurance?
We do. Pro Therapy accepts most insurance plans that feature in and out-of-network options. Below is a list of just a few of the many insurances we accept:
